Fidelity Investment Rewards American Express Card (FIA) Review

Benefits

  1. Earn $50 after spending $500 in first 2 months.
  2. Earn 2% cash back on every purchase you make.
  3. No annual fee.

Disadvantages

  1. FIA is an American Express card, which is not accepted as widely as Visa or MasterCard. Since 2% cash back on everything is designed for non-bonus categories, this may cause some trouble sometimes.
  2. It has foreign transaction fee, so it's not a good choice outside the US.

Recommended Application Time

  1. We recommend you apply for this card after you have a credit history of at least one year.
  2. You can have at most 1 BoA credit card if you are an undergrad student, 2 if grad student. Other people don’t have such a restriction, but BoA may cancel your credit cards to 4 if you have too many.

Summary

This card is a no-brainer choice: everything 2% cash back with no annual fee, worth applying for everyone. You probably should use this card for all transactions that don’t have 2%+ reward rate. Citi Double Cash is very similar to another card FIA, which also gives you 2% cash back everywhere with no annual fee. On the one hand, FIA is an AmEx card, which is not accepted as widely as MasterCard; on the other hand, FIA has AmEx Offers, which could be give you more rewards. We recommend Citi Double Cash if you don’t want to spend time on AmEx Offers.

Historical Offers Chart

This card is discontinued on 2015.12.28.
