When he tried to downgrade his AmEx Platinum Delta SkyMiles to the Gold SkyMiles, he was told by an AmEx CSR that: AmEx recently built a new team to deal with all the product change or downgrade, effective 2017.06.01. Previously any AmEx CSR can deal with product change or downgrade, but from now on, all the requests will be transferred to this special Product Change Team. One of our authors croco8dile yesterday tried to downgrade his AmEx Platinum to Premier Rewards Gold, and he was also transferred to another agent. This further confirmed the existence of the Product Change Team. We guess that, the reason to build the new team may be related to our post Churning the 100k AmEx Hilton Upgrade Offer! Perhaps in the future AmEx will not let you downgrade if they find you have already taken advantage of the upgrade offer. Looking forward to the data points!
